The Cat's Whiskers

(Or what's been going on...)

Last night Michele Moriarty-Jones, Catbrook resident and owner of Looking Good Make-Up by Michele, gave a make-up demonstration to over 25 local (and not so local!) residents on the best way to look after skin, how to navigate the abundance of products on the market, and tips and tricks for looking healthy and well rather than over made-up.

Michele kindly served wine, soft drinks, nibbles and chocolates - everyone agreed it was a great night!

Sue Browne was the willing model who looked good bare-faced, but looked even better after Michele had demonstrated how best to apply products that she recommended as suitable for Sue's colouring and skin.

Well, that was some party! The fabulous Cat's Claw Ceilidh Band played the night away and there was much dancing and merriment, probably partly due to the bar!

Robbie The Robot did the health and safety notices - the absolutely fantastic Andy Pullan is underneath the robotics...

There were also some fabulous fancy dress costumes. To see all the pictures, go to the Gallery page on the top menu!

It was wonderful to see so many people at the 'Christmas Special' meeting of Catbooks Book Club on Monday night and we hope you all enjoyed the lively discussion, mulled wine and mince pies!

For those who were unable to attend two books were voted joint first for March's book choice so we agreed to select these for March & April. The next four months book choices and meeting dates are therefore as follows .......

* January 28th : Root of the Tudor Rose (Mari Griffith)

* February 18th : Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine (Gail Honeyman)

* March 18th : The Farm (Hector Abad)

* April 15th : Becoming (Michelle Obama)

Other items of interest - there is just one space left on the Matthew Hall Crime Writing workshop on Sat 16th February (so get in quick if you are interested!) and please do remember to submit your favourite recipes for the Catbrook Cookbook which will be raising funds for the hall in 2019!

Thank you too for helping the new book club to get off to such a great start - Tracey and Justine hope you all have a very happy Christmas and New Year and look forward to seeing you all again in January if not before.

On Sunday we had two Christmas workshops, one in the morning and another in the afternoon with Suzanne and Nanya of Kokoblas Chocolates.

We filled chocolate shells with salted caramel...

And got messy hand rolling truffles...

All the packaging was supplied to make our chocolates look really beautiful just in case we wanted to give them away as presents. As if!

Both courses were absolutely brilliant, and we will definitely be running the same courses again in December 2019 - get your names down early, this will sell out!

Friday night was Pub Night - with a Christmas feeling! Racing Reindeers, festive music and all the decorations you could wish for....

There were more people than that, we just took a picture before they all came in!

There were also Christmas jumpers - and trousers!
